Workshop on Perception & Attitude Building by Mr. Deepak Behl

Perception and Attitude Building workshop conducted by Mr. Deepak Behl, Head HR & Training at Astra Protection Group and Astra Training Academy. This insightful session aimed to challenge our usual thinking patterns and emphasize the importance of perception, attitude, and belief systems in achieving success.

Thought-Provoking Questions and Out-of-the-Box Thinking

Mr. Behl began the workshop by engaging us with thought-provoking questions. These questions were designed to push us beyond our regular thought patterns and encourage us to think more creatively and expansively. He emphasized how our perceptions and attitudes can create mental boundaries that limit our potential. By working on our thought processes and constantly reminding ourselves that success requires effort and innovative thinking, we can break these self-imposed limitations.

To illustrate this, Mr. Behl narrated a captivating story about a magician known for breaking out of the most secure locks within 15 minutes. This magician successfully took on challenges in various countries but faced an unexpected twist when he came to India. Instead of using locks, the Indians simply secured the room’s gate, leaving the magician to waste time searching for non-existent locks. This story highlighted the power of out-of-the-box thinking and challenged us to rethink our approaches to problem-solving.

The Power of Belief Systems

Next, Mr. Behl discussed the critical role of belief systems in achieving success. He emphasized that a strong belief system is essential because people often criticize and demean our thoughts and ideas. He shared an inspiring story about an orthopaedic doctor who earned a substantial income and was invited to a prestigious doctors’ conference. Despite facing numerous obstacles, and being late on his way to the conference including missing his flight and encountering a traffic jam, the doctor’s journey led him to a small village where he met a woman and her disabled son.

The doctor diagnosed the boy and offered to treat him for free at his hospital. The doctor noticed that the lady had hung the photos of a lot of gods when he curiously asked is she believed in god, the lady said of course. The doctor amusingly asked her again has she ever seen one, the lady confidently said I am seeing one right now. The doctor appreciated her but said that he is no god but the lady intervened and said that sir first you missed your flight, then the rains led you to leave the highway and follow the village road, but here also your car broke just near my doorstep.  This story underscored the power of belief and how it can shape our experiences and outcomes. The woman’s unwavering belief that her son would be healed became a reality through the doctor’s unexpected presence in her village.

Interactive Dot Game and Creative Thinking

The workshop continued with an interactive dot game that challenged our creativity and problem-solving skills. We were tasked with connecting nine dots using only straight lines, starting with five lines and progressively reducing the number of lines until we could do it with just one. This exercise demonstrated the importance of thinking creatively and finding innovative solutions to seemingly impossible problems.

Psychometric Test and Perception

In the final part of the workshop, we participated in a 25-picture psychometric test. This test evaluated our open-mindedness and perception by encouraging us to see both the positive and negative spaces in each image. The exercise illustrated how changing our perception can reveal new perspectives and opportunities that we might otherwise overlook.

Conclusion and Key Take away

The most important takeaway from the workshop was the importance of looking at situations from both macro and micro perspectives. By changing our perceptions and adopting a flexible, open-minded approach, we can uncover new possibilities and achieve greater success in our personal and professional lives.

This workshop was a powerful reminder of the impact our perceptions, attitudes, and beliefs have on our lives. It encouraged us to think creatively, believe in our potential, and approach challenges with an open mind. As we move forward in our academic and professional journeys, these lessons will undoubtedly help us navigate obstacles and seize opportunities with renewed confidence and clarity.
